We first removed the bumpers, interior, engine, transmission, suspension, everything from the unibody. The car was then media blasted to the metal, and taken to Painted Dreams, a high-end shop in Parker, Colorado. Don Diltz then repaired a small rust spot around the rear window and got the body laser straight before laying down the Big Bad Blue in single stage PPG urethane. We had Legendary leather and new seat buns put on the seat frames, new carpet, and many NOS interior parts. The original rear tail light housings had been re-chromed sometime in the past by a previous owner, but the re-chrome was done poorly, so we replaced the housings and lenses with the new reproduction housings (and lenses) that are a very good reproduction. We also had Just Dashes do the passenger side crash pad. The engine was completely gone through with new pistons, bearings, etc., including installing a NOS AM numbered R4B intake manifold. The M12 transmission was rebuilt as a precaution. The Bendix four piston calipers were rebuilt (what a pain in the neck!), and the rotors were turned. All of the brake lines were replaced with Fine Lines parts, as well as replacing all of the fuel lines front to rear. Every single fastener on the car was refinished in the original type plating. Trunnions and control arms were rebuilt and rear springs were replaced with new. The entire exhaust system was replaced, eliminating the repop Trendsetters someone had installed in the past. After the car was finished, repro wiring harnesses became available. That was great because the original harness was in cobbled together condition and extremely brittle. We replaced the harness after the car was completely assembled, which is not the easiest way to do it. We are still looking for the rear speakers for the 8 track stereo. The only rust was one small spot in the lower part of the rear window, the floorpans, as you can see in the pictures were original and completely rust free in the original BBB from the factory.
